Harpist and Composer Joseph Rebman is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Harp performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music, studying under Yolanda Kondonassis. Rebman has studied composition with Monica Houghton and Timothy Mauthe. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Rebman began studying harp at age 10 with Michelle Gwynne of Northern Kentucky University. As an active performer, Rebman has performed with many orchestras and ensembles. Most Recently Rebman was harpist for the Eastern Music Festival, and a finalist in EMF’s concerto competition. As a composer, Rebman writes largely for the harp, and recently won third place in the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs’ Collegiate Composers Contest for his harp solo Eros. As well as writing music, Rebman works with other composers to encourage new music for the harp, and frequently performs contemporary music. Rebman is currently rotating principal with the Cleveland Institute of Music Orchestra, and is the harpist for the contemporary ensemble FiveOne Experimental Orchestra.
