INTRODUCTION

The AMF Piano Competition is held annually during the Atlantic Music Festival with the express purpose of identifying gifted young pianists and providing a stepping stone into the professional world of music. The winner of the competition is featured in a solo recital during the festival season. In addition, the winner will be awarded $1,000 cash prize.

ELIGIBILITY

Contestants must be registered full-session participants of the Atlantic Music Festival Piano Institute and Seminar. Previous winners may not apply.

PROCEDURES

Preliminary Round

Performance recording must be submitted online by April 30, 2017.

  • Up to 30 minutes of music, contestant's choice.
  • Include at least one fast-paced work.
Final Round

A maximum of six finalists will perform the memorized work in its entirety during the first session of the festival.

  • One Classical Sonata, all movements
  • One work chosen by the participant
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS

Please note that at least one contemporary work written after 1950 must be included in competition repertoire in either preliminary or final round.

PRIZE

  • Featured solo recital during the festival season.
  • Cash prize of $1,000 USD

All decisions are final. The members of the jury reserve the right to declare no winner.
